Rachel Davies, an 18 year old from Greater Manchester has died in hospital two weeks after being
shot in the eye with an air gun.
Greater Manchester Police said her condition had deteriorated in recent days after she was shot in
Oram Street, Bury, just before midday on 7 December 2008.
Her parents Ricky and Angela described their daughter as a "beautiful and caring fun-loving
teenager" who had been tragically taken away from them. They added "Losing such a vibrant, beautiful
and spirited daughter in this way is a tragedy without compare for us. Her beautiful smile and sense
of fun will be greatly missed by us all.
"She had been considering whether to pursue a career in hairdressing or teaching and we were
prepared to help and support her in whatever way she chose.
"We are full of a profound grief knowing that the whole world of opportunity that was laid out
before our young lady is now beyond her."
The teenager leaves a sister aged 14 and a 10-year-old brother.
The family said a funeral service for Rachel would be held at St Bernadette's Church in Whitefield.
Her ashes will then be scattered with her late grandmother in Darlington, County Durham, where
Rachel was born.
Rachel's parents added: "The family would also like to pay tribute to the police and ambulance
services and the staff at both Fairfield and Hope Hospitals for their professional and compassionate
treatment of both Rachel and her relatives during this truly awful time."

I met your sister at Abigails house the other week and we were talking about you and your Aunties.
Cant believe life is so cruel, I hope you are at peace Rachel shining brightly over your loving family and giving them strength to cope with life without you.

Imagine if I was given one moment,
just a single slice of my past.
I could hold it close forever,
and that moment would always last.
Id put the moment in a safe,
within my hearts abode.
I could open it when I wanted,
and only I would know the code.
I could choose a time of laughing,
a time of happiness and fun.
I could choose a time that tried me,
through everything I've done.
I sat and thought about what moment,
would always make me smile.
One that would always push me,
to walk that extra mile.
If I'm feeling sad and low,
if I'm struggling with what to do.
I can go and open my little safe,
and watch my moment through.
There are moments I can think of,
that would lift my spirits everytime.
The moments when you picked me up,
when the road was hard to climb.
For me to only pick one moment,
to cherish, save and keep,
Is proving really difficult,
as I've gathered up a heap!
I've dug deep inside my heart,
found the safe and looked inside,
there was room for lots of moments,
in fact hundreds if I tried.
Am building my own little library,
embedded in my heart,
for all the moments spent with you,
before you had to part.
I can open it up whenever I like,

I can`t beleave this beautiful girl has been killed be some little B*****D I just hope he or she has been caught and serves life in prison until they die.
I`m a gun user and would gladly give it up if It would stop things like this happening.
I just cant beleave it i`m in shock.
